The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology has implemented a protocol for the assessment of residents known as ABPN Milestones. This is in addition to the NEX evaluations already in place.

Every year residency programs are charged with evaluating each of their house staff in a wide variety of performance metrics, on topics like EEG analysis, Neuro-radiology, Diagnostic Investigation, Nerve Conduction Studies and EMG, etc. There is however, little guidance on how these assessments should be made.

DocNeuro is producing a series of tools to help residents prepare for these assessments, and to provide faculty with ways of objectively assessing the competency of residents in several of these areas.

The first tools are now available. These consist of short quizzes (15 questions each) with questions designed to assess the level of competency in specific areas.
